About Liam Asbridge

I’m a musician and educator with over 20 years’ experience teaching and performing across the UK and beyond. I specialise in brass and piano lessons for all ages, and continue to perform in a wide range of ensembles, from big bands and jazz groups to brass bands and theatre productions.

Early Career

Growing up in Carlisle, I began my musical journey with the Carlisle and Cumbria Youth Orchestras, performing in the Edinburgh Festival, on the Queen’s Golden Jubilee tour, and on an international tour of Iceland. These early experiences gave me the chance to play abroad and sparked a lifelong passion for performing.

I went on to study Jazz and Contemporary Music at Leeds College of Music, where I performed with a variety of ensembles including Omar Puente’s Latin Big Band and the award-winning Dave O’Higgins Biggish Band. My work took me across the UK and Europe, from jazz festivals to national competitions.

Performing Experience

Over the years, I’ve played with many bands and ensembles, including big bands, brass bands, and jazz groups. Highlights include:

- Touring Italy, Germany and Iceland with youth and big bands.

- Performing with Omar Puente’s Latin Big Band.

- Working aboard Royal Caribbean’s Mariner of the Seas as a showband musician.

- Guest performances with ensembles and bands across the North West.

I continue to perform regularly at concerts, festivals, weddings, theatre pits, and private functions.

Teaching & Education

Alongside performing, teaching has become the heart of my career. I’ve taught music in schools and colleges across the North West, working with children from age 6 through to A-Level. I’ve also collaborated on youth projects with members of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, and led sectionals for the SKY Junior Philharmonic Orchestra.

In 2009, I was proud to receive a National Teaching Award as part of the Performing Arts team at Maghull Arts College. Today, I teach brass, piano and music theory both privately and online, helping students achieve their goals whether they’re preparing for exams, auditions, or playing simply for fun.

My aim is to share my passion for music with every student and audience I work with. Whether you’re picking up an instrument for the first time, looking to progress to the next level, or searching for live music for your event, I’d love to help.
